The Central Crime Branch (CCB), Bengaluru City, has arrested seven persons for allegedly conspiring to murder a history-sheeter as part of a revenge plot. The operation was carried out by the Organised Crime Wing (West Division) under the leadership of Inspector S. Mahadevaiah.

According to the police, the accused allegedly hatched a conspiracy to eliminate rowdy-sheeter Jowhar Abbas to avenge the murder of the woman’s husband, Hyder, who was also a known rowdy. Investigators said that the woman, Sabrina Taj, and her brother-in-law, Shakeel Shabbir, had allegedly arranged a “supari” (contract killing) by offering money to a gang to carry out the murder.

The CCB stated that the conspiracy was uncovered following the collection of intelligence regarding criminal activities within the Ashok Nagar police station limits. Police learned that the accused had allegedly procured illegal weapons and formed a gang to carry out the attack. Surveillance revealed that the intended target frequently travelled through Ashok Nagar, Koramangala, and nearby areas in cars, prompting the accused to plan the attack at a suitable opportunity. Further investigation allegedly revealed that Sabrina Taj had also planned to take over his area of operation after avenging the death of her husband.

Acting on credible information, the Organised Crime Wing conducted a special operation and apprehended the accused before the alleged murder could be carried out. Several suspects, including Sajjad, Nadeem, Nishanth, Vinod, Suman, Prem, Sonu, and Shivaprasad, were allegedly involved in the conspiracy.

A case has been registered under the provisions of the Attempt to Murder and Arms Act. Police said further investigation is under way to ascertain the full extent of the conspiracy and identify any additional individuals involved.
