Population Management Policy will be introduced in A.P. by Ugadi, says CM

Reiterating that the Andhra Pradesh government is committed to providing 20 lakh jobs as promised during the TDP’s Yuva Galam programme in the run-up to the 2024 elections, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that 4.50 lakh jobs have been given so far.

The government is striving to realise the Swarnandhra-2047 Vision by focusing on its 10 principles (Padi Sutralu), he said and announced that a Population Management Policy would be introduced by Ugadi. Besides, the details of the people receiving government services and welfare schemes would be registered on Family Cards soon. 

Addressing the Collectors’ Conference on its second day at the Secretariat on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said the future depends on skills and that degrees would be offered in skill development, alongside traditional courses.

He instructed the Collectors to achieve zero maternal and infant mortality rates, and zero suicides, for which farmers, students, and families should be counselled.

He said Rayalaseema would be developed as a horticulture hub for international markets and asserted that Andhra Pradesh would be positioned as a logistics hub along the East Coast.

The Chief Minister ordered that top priority be given to resolving disputes arising from placing lands under Section 22-A of the Registration Act. “Political interference in land disputes will not be tolerated,” he said.  

He instructed the Collectors to ensure that the groundwater levels were at three metres by the end of the monsoon season and not drop below eight metres before the start of the next rainy season.

He clarified that power tariffs were not being hiked and instructed the Collectors to make aquaculture farmers promptly pay their electricity bills. 

Referring to Law & Order (L&O), Mr Naidu advocated for zero tolerance towards crime and the expulsion of habitual offenders from the State. He said a Cabinet Sub – Committee would be formed to help curb the menace of malicious propaganda and fake accounts used on social media for character assassination. 

D​irector General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta reported a 5.50% decline in the crime rate in the State. However, the crime rates were rising in Annamayya, Konaseema, Nellore, Guntur, and Tirupati districts. 

Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan stressed the importance of maintaining law and order to achieve 15% growth rate. He directed the Collectors and Superintendents of Police to be proactive in controlling crimes.
