The Central medical teams that inspected health facilities in Chittoor and Parvathipuram Manyam districts for four days have expressed satisfaction with the healthcare services being provided to the public.

Under the 17th Common Review Mission, the teams visited 19 hospitals in the two districts and presented their preliminary joint findings to Health and Family Welfare Commissioner G. Veerapandian and other officials on Saturday, according to a release from the Health Department.

The Central officials noted that increased public awareness of chronic diseases has led to better participation in non-communicable disease screening programmes. They also appreciated the State government’s efforts to ensure job security and gratuity benefits for ASHAs.

In Chittoor district, a team led by Zoya Ali Rizvi, Deputy Commissioner, National Health Mission, inspected the Chittoor Teaching Hospital, Kuppam Area Hospital, Sodum Community Health Centre, and primary health centres at Gudipala and Shanthipuram, along with several Ayushman Health and Wellness Centres (Village Health Clinics).

In Parvathipuram Manyam district, the team headed by Bhavani Singh, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, visited the District Hospital, Palakonda Area Hospital, Kurupam CHC, and several PHCs.

During their visits, the officials interacted with pregnant women to assess the quality of maternal care, availability of medicines, and implementation of PM Matru Vandana Yojana benefits. They also reviewed awareness and adoption of temporary family planning methods.

The teams inspected non-communicable disease clinics, adolescent health clinics, dialysis centres, TB units, one-stop centres, child emergency units, and adolescent health services. Staff were questioned about the creation of electronic health records and the issuance of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABHA) IDs.

While expressing satisfaction with the quality of healthcare services, the Central teams made several recommendations to the Health Department, including appointing doctors at NCD clinics in district hospitals, ensuring power backup at Village Health Clinics, strengthening biomedical waste management in government hospitals, and conducting regular training programmes for ASHAs and other staff to improve service delivery.
