A 54-year-old man was stabbed to death by a group of assailants in Jawaharnagar in Malkajgiri on Monday (December 8, 2025) morning while he was returning on a scooter after dropping his daughter at school.

The victim, G. Venkata Ratnam, a realtor residing in Saket, was intercepted by a gang of five to six men who arrived in an autorickshaw and a motorcycle at around 7.55 a.m.

An officer from the Jawaharnagar police said the attackers stabbed him multiple times with knives on the stomach, back and neck, killing him on the spot.

As captured on a nearby CCTV camera, the men can be seen repeatedly stabbing him as the auto they arrived in takes a U-turn before all of them escape in the same vehicle. A woman riding a scooter on the stretch was seen stopping, abandoning her vehicle and running away scared on foot.

The Jawaharnagar police have registered a case and begun an investigation. Malkajgiri DCP Ch. Sridhar inspected the location. Preliminary enquiry suggests the men were from Mangalhat and bore a grudge against Ratnam due to earlier disputes linked to real estate dealings. The victim is survived by wife and two daughters.
