Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday (March 1, 2026) to discuss the current regional situation in West Asia.

PM Modi wrote on his X account, “Conveyed India’s concerns over recent developments and emphasised the safety of civilians as a priority. India reiterates the need for an early cessation of hostilities.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (March 1, 2026) night also spoke to the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and condemned the attacks on the Gulf nation, saying India stands in solidarity with the UAE in these difficult times.

An Iranian missile attack on Sunday (March 1, 2026) in the central Israeli city of Beit Shemesh killed at least nine people and left 11 missing, police said, in the deadliest strike in the country since the war began.

The U.S. and Israel launched a wave of strikes against Iran on Saturday (February 28, 2026), killing supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and sparking a rapid retaliation from Tehran which continued into Sunday (March 1, 2026).
