Ahead of the Winter Session of the Haryana Assembly, the Congress on Tuesday said it will bring a no-confidence motion against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Assembly session is slated to begin on December 18.

The decision was taken at the Congress Legislative Party meeting held here, which was chaired by former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

“The BJP formed the government in Haryana by robbing votes. To achieve this, they resorted to tactics such as offering illegal inducements before the elections and creating multiple votes for a single person. Therefore, a no-confidence motion will be brought against the government, and its misdeeds will be exposed in the House,” said Mr. Hooda.

The meeting also crafted a strategy to raise public-centric issues in the upcoming session by bringing adjournment motions, calling attention motions, and zero-hour submissions. “The party has decided to bring adjournment motions on issues such as lack of or dilapidated condition of sports facilities and equipment in sports complexes, fraudulent voters, and the misuse of government machinery to form the government,” he said.

Issues on table

He said additionally, issues surrounding saving the Aravalli range, compensation for waterlogging, rising pollution, drug abuse, corruption, education, and health will be raised through calling attention and short-duration discussion motions. The Congress will also demand a discussion on the Assembly complex, the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal issue – the focal point of a water-sharing dispute between Haryana and Punjab –, poor law and order and the status of Chandigarh, he added
