The Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) has taken suo motu cognisance of the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl by a Church Pastor at a village in Kamavarapukota mandal of Eluru district, following reports that the victim was administered abortion pills in excessive dosage, leading to severe health complications.

According to official information from Vetukuri A.V.S. Suryanarayana Raju, Chairman of APSCPCR, the incident created widespread concern across the State after allegations surfaced against Church Pastor Choutapalli Rambabu, who allegedly sexually assaulted the minor girl over the past several months by taking advantage of his acquaintance with the victim’s family.

Police said the Pastor had regular access to the family and allegedly subjected the minor girl to repeated sexual abuse while threatening her, according to the Commission. The matter came to light after the girl reportedly fell ill and was shifted to a hospital by her family members, where doctors found that she was pregnant.

It is further alleged that the accused attempted to suppress the issue by giving abortion pills to the girl in excess quantity. Following the consumtion of the tablets, the minor girl victim reportedly suffered with severe bleeding and her condition turned critical.

The Commission informed that, the Chairperson Mr. Raju, member Undavalli Gandhi Babu will visit the house of the victim on Monday (May 11, 2026).
