Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy outlined his vision to transform Hyderabad into a world-class international destination, anchored by the upcoming Bharat Future City project, which is set to come up on 40,000 acres.
During a courtesy call by The Hindu Group of Publications Chairperson Ms. Nirmala Lakshman at his residence in Hyderabad on Saturday, the Chief Minister discussed at length about Hyderabad’s future growth, education reforms, and the State’s cultural heritage.
Mr. Reddy said that education plays a crucial role in shaping society and emphasised the need to create a qualitative and inclusive learning environment. “Children should grow up in schools that reflect society, not segregated by caste but united in diversity,” he said. The Young India Integrated Residential Schools coming up in Telangana with best of facilities will be the destination of schools that would mirror social harmony rather than promoting exclusion in the name of castes, he added.
Discussing the city’s progress, Mr. Reddy noted that Hyderabad has already earned a place among global cities and shared his dream of making it India’s sports hub. He said that stalwarts like Kapil Dev and Bhaichung Bhutia have been brought onto the Sports Board to guide the creation of world-class sports infrastructure. His dream is to see Olympic winners coming out of the Sports University in Telangana.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the establishment of the Young India Skills University, one of his flagship initiatives aimed at developing new-age professionals and preparing youth for the global workforce. He said that industrialist Anand Mahindra, who chairs the university, is helping to steer its growth through innovative academic and industry-linked verticals.
On the cultural front, Mr. Reddy spoke about preserving Telangana’s unique tribal heritage, particularly the Sammakka–Sarakka Jatara, Asia’s largest tribal festival. He explained that the government is taking steps to modernise the festival infrastructure while maintaining its traditional essence.
The Chief Minister also suggested that The Hindu consider bringing out special edition books on the temples of Telangana, noting the spiritual and historical importance of shrines like the Jogulamba Temple at Alampur, one of the 18 Shakti Peethas in India.
Ms. Nirmala Lakshman presented the Chief Minister with table-top books on Tirumala, Temples of Chola Kings and other prominent temples, appreciating his vision for inclusive growth and cultural preservation.

Later, she called on Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka at his residence. Mr. Bhatti spoke about the initiatives launched by the Congress government for the welfare and development of the State. He explained the vast potential of tourism sites in the State.
