A motorcycle rider was killed and another was injured in a serial accident when an onion-laden truck lost control, rammed several vehicles and toppled on a bike near Makali, Madanayakanahalli in the early hours of Wednesday. As the truck overturned, before it was cleared by the police, people looted onion bags from the truck.

The Maharashtra registered truck was coming from Solapur, Maharashtra, towards Bengaluru. Sources said an autorickshaw going in front of the truck applied sudden brake, which led to the truck driver losing control over his vehicle. He rammed an autorickshaw, a mini van and two motorcycles before the vehicle overturned. While one of the bike riders, Manoj, 22, a resident of Nandini Layout, came under the toppled truck and was killed on the spot, another, Vithal, 24, a resident of Adugodi, has been severely injured and is being treated at a private hospital.

The Madanayakanahalli Police have arrested the truck driver and booked him for causing death due to negligence.
