Rows of cars, two-wheelers and even autorickshaws parked along both sides, groups of people perched precariously along the railings, taking selfies and getting pictures clicked, the iconic Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge in Hyderabad is witnessing mounting chaos every night as crowds turn the busy stretch into an informal hangout zone, slowing traffic to a crawl.

What is designed as a key link between Madhapur and Jubilee Hills, easing access to the city’s IT corridor, increasingly slows down after 10 p.m., with at least one lane on the 400–500 metre stretch routinely occupied. Engines idle and music blares softly from cars parked erratically right below a string of ‘no-parking’ boards placed every few metres, while people gather in clusters, often spilling onto the carriageway with little regard for moving traffic.
