More than one lakh compoundable cases were settled across Telangana during the National Lok Adalat held on December 21, providing relief to litigants and facilitating refunds to victims of cyber fraud.

The Lok Adalat, fixed by the Supreme Court, aimed at amicable settlement of disputes through compounding. In preparation, the police identified eligible cases and served notices to both parties, with the process commencing on December 11 and concluding on December 21. In total, 1,05,182 cases were disposed of during the Lok Adalat held on December 21, as reflected in the official compilation of cases disposed of in 2025 .

Of the cases settled on that day, 14,108 were FIR-related compoundable cases, 215 pertained to the Disaster Management Act, 55,497 were e-petty cases, and 31,599 related to Motor Vehicle Act violations. Cyber crime cases accounted for 3,763 settlements, with refunds amounting to ₹19.50 crore being returned to victims, the police said.

Among police units, Rachakonda recorded the highest disposal with 23,671 cases, followed by Hyderabad with 14,771, Nalgonda with 7,886, Cyberabad with 6,936 and Gadwal with 6,024. The police said all units in the State performed well in disposing of compoundable cases during the Lok Adalat.

The National Lok Adalat was described as a platform that reduces the burden of repeated court appearances, saving time and money for both parties while offering quicker closure. Citizens were encouraged to make use of such forums to resolve eligible disputes.

During 2025, across four National Lok Adalats and one Special Lok Adalat, Telangana police settled a total of 7,22,487 cases, according to official records.

The success of the exercise was attributed to coordination between the Telangana State Legal Services Authority, District Judges, Magistrates, District Legal Services Authorities, Commissioners of Police and Superintendents of Police. ADGP Law and Order Mahesh M. Bhagwat, holding charge of the Director General of Police, congratulated the police units of Rachakonda, Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Nalgonda and Gadwal, and appreciated the efforts of officers from the CID and SCRB for their role in the process.
