Binoy Viswam will continue as the Kerala State secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) after a unanimous re-election at the party’s State conference in Alappuzha on Friday (September 12, 2025).

Mr. Viswam was first elected as the State secretary after the demise of Kanam Rajendran in December 2023.

He is a CPI national secretariat member and the working president of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC).

The conference also elected 103 members and 10 candidate members to the party’s State Council. The Control Commission has nine members. One hundred representatives have been elected to the CPI Party Congress, which will be held in Chandigarh from September 21 to 25.

Marking the culmination of the State conference, a public meeting will be held on the Alappuzha beach on Friday evening. It is set to be inaugurated by CPI general secretary D. Raja at 4.30 p.m.
