A 57-year-old motorist was knocked down by a speeding lorry on Anna Salai near Omandurar Government Estate.

The victim has been identified as Parthasarathy, 57, of T. Nagar, who was a flower vendor. Police said he was returning in his two-wheeler after buying flowers at Broadway. Near the subway, the lorry belonging to Chennai Corporation rammed into his vehicle and dragged it for a few yards. He, along with his vehicle, came under the wheels of the lorry, and he died on the spot.

Traffic was affected due to the accident on Anna Salai. Traffic Investigation Police, Anna Square registered a case and arrested the lorry driver Nagaraj, 37, of Choolaimedu for causing death due to negligence.
