With two back-to-back weather systems taking shape over the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, Kerala is likely to witness good rainfall activity for the next two weeks.
An upper cyclonic circulation that lies over the southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area is likely to develop into a low-pressure area by October 18 off the Kerala-Karnataka coasts.
The system is poised to intensify into a depression during the subsequent 48 hours, according to a bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department.
Another low-pressure area is likely to take shape over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 24. The IMD forecasts a moderate probability of its intensification into a depression by October 26. Both systems are expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall across parts of the State, evoking the feel of a typical rainy season for some days
The IMD issued a yellow alert for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad on Saturday, warning of isolated heavy rain.
