The Kannur Town police in Keralam have registered a case after MDMA, a banned narcotic substance, was seized from inmates at the Kannur Women’s Prison and Correctional Home at Pallikkunnu on October 12.

According to the police, the substance was allegedly brought into the prison illegally and kept for consumption by the inmates. The authorities detected the contraband and handed it over to the police.

The substance was recovered from Roshni Savio, alias Sabira (33), a resident of Vadakara. The zip-lock cover containing the substance had allegedly been handed over to her by P.K. Rubaida (39), a resident of Thalassery.

The seized MDMA weighed 0.30 grams.

The Kannur Town police registered a case under Section 86(1) of the Kerala Prisons and Correctional Services (Management) Act and Sections 8C and 22A read with Section 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
