The Palarivattom police on Monday (February 16, 2026) arrested a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman inside a moving bus at Edappally. The accused was identified as Sabu from Mannar in Alappuzha. The incident reportedly occurred around noon inside a KSRTC bus as it was about to reach Edappally.
He was returning home after appearing before a court in Perumbavoor in a similar sexual assault case when the alleged incident happened, a police officer said.
The Palarivattom police took him into custody after passengers of the bus restrained him following an alert from the complainant woman. The accused has been charged with assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
