Traffic on the busy Ballari road was disrupted for some time on Monday after a supermarket manager allegedly assaulted a cab driver and created a ruckus near Mekhri Circle. The Sadashivanagar police detained the accused, identified as Santosh, following the incident

According to the police, Santosh had boarded a cab to the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) to catch a flight to Badrinath.

En route, he allegedly picked a quarrel with the driver over a trivial issue and assaulted him. He then got out of the cab near Mekhri Circle and began creating chaos on the busy stretch, leading to a massive traffic pile-up.

A traffic policeman who approached Santosh to pacify him was also allegedly manhandled. The Sadashivanagar police rushed to the spot and took Santosh, along with the cab driver, to the station.

During inquiry, Santosh’s parents informed the police that he is mentally disturbed and undergoing treatment. Based on a complaint filed by the cab driver, the police have taken up a case and are investigating further.
