Police on Friday (November 7, 2025) arrested Vemuri Vinod Kumar, the owner of V Kaveri private travel bus which went up in flames after colliding with a bike killing 19 passengers last month.

The bus collided with the bike that was lying on the road after the rider skidded off the road and fell down on the National Highway 44 at Chinnatekur village of Kallur mandal on the early hours of October 24, 2025.

The Ulindakonda police, who registered a case into the incident, named bus driver Miriyala Lakshmaiah as Accused 1 and the owner Vinok Kumar as Accused 2.

Lakshmaiah was arrested on October 28 while Vinod Kumar was arrested on Friday (November 7, 2025) morning, a release by the Kurnool police said. “Vinod Kumar was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate (JFCM), Special Mobile Court for remand,” police said.

During investigation, police found several violations in the design of the bus and also failure to adhere to basic safety guidelines by the bus management.
