The Thiruvananthapuram City Police registered a massive drug haul of nearly 300 kg of ganja from Pappamancode on Monday.

The District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) nabbed Afzal, a native of Karakulam, while allegedly attempting to transport the contraband in a car. The ganja was found concealed in multiple packets wrapped in tape.

According to official sources, the team intercepted Afzal while he was waiting to hand over the consignment to another person. Acting on intelligence inputs, the police surrounded the suspect and took him into custody before the delivery could be completed. The car has also been seized.

The accused and the seized contraband will be handed over to Karamana police for registration of a case and further formalities.

The accused is known to have been involved in other narcotics trafficking cases. He is presently been interrogated in detail to uncover further links in the drug racket to identify other people involved in the operation.
