The Kochi City police have registered 30 cases over the alleged use and possession of suspected narcotic substances during a special combing operation conducted in various parts of the city on Saturday (November 8, 2025) night.

In all the cases, the suspected drugs were seized in small quantities, which vary depending on the nature of the substances, as defined under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, police sources said.

The police also booked 140 people for alleged drunk driving during the operation. A total of 28 cases were registered under the Abkari Act on charges including the illegal storage and transport of liquor. “Action has been taken against 212 offenders as part of the drive. The operation will continue in the coming days,” District Police Chief (Kochi City) Putta Vimaladitya said on Sunday (November 9, 2025).

The City police have been conducting intensive anti-drug drives on weekends in recent weeks. The surveillance has focussed on bar hotels hosting DJ parties, according to police sources.
