A Knowledge Centre will be established at a cost of ₹50 crore, donated by the alumni of Kurnool Medical College settled abroad, with the aim of enhancing the medical education infrastructure at the college.

Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath, who chaired the meeting of Kurnool Medical College and Government General Hospital Development Committee and KMC Alumni on Friday (26 December, 2025), thanked the medical college staff for unanimously approving the proposal. “The alumni had come forward to extend their gratitude to the Medical College where they have studied and this is highly appreciable,” Mr. Bharath said.

He said that 66.66 cents of land has been approved for setting up the facility, which will include an advanced library, a research centre, a pavilion, a gym, a meeting hall, and an indoor games complex. The Knowledge Centre will be completed within a year and handed over to the medical college principal upon completion.

In the development committee meeting, Mr. Bharath sought to know the issues concerning the college and Hospital. Hospital heads and professors raised various issues ranging from drainage problem at the Regional Eye Hospital, incomplete buildings, hostel rooms, and the need for advanced medical equipment.

Mr. Bharath assured action and asked the officials concerned to submit detailed reports. He also wanted officials to prepare proposals to seek Central funding for a state-of-the-art trauma and burns care centre at the GGH.
