Eighteen people, including 15 students, were injured as two school buses collided head-on near Koothattukulam on Thursday. The buses were carrying students of St. Philomena’s Public School at Elanji and St. Kuriakose Public School, Kaduthuruthy, after school hours.

The drivers of both the buses and a school attendant are among those injured. All the injured were rushed to two nearby private hospitals and the Koothattukulam taluk hospital. Their condition is reported to be stable, police sources said.

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. as the buses came face to face at a curve near the Elanji grama panchayat office.

A few students suffered facial injuries in the impact of the collision, while the drivers reportedly hurt their legs. The Koothattukualm police have registered a case.
