Bengaluru and its neighbourhood, which have witnessed a drop in temperatures over the last few days due to Cyclone Ditwah, are likely to see a warm and sunny Tuesday.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist C.S. Patil said, “The temperature is likely to go up on Tuesday.”

Misty morning

“Mist very likely during early morning hours. We can expect a rise in temperature, though there will be partly cloudy conditions and we will also see sunshine. The temperature during the day is likely to increase and it will come down at night,” Mr. Patil said.

He said that the maximum temperature on Tuesday is likely to be around 25 degree Celsius to 26 degrees Celsius.

On Monday, the city observatory recorded a maximum of 23.3 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 18.2 degrees Celsius. The HAL airport and the Kempegowda International Airport observatories recorded trace rainfall.

Mr. Patil said, “Though the peak winter conditions usually sets in Bengaluru in the last week of December and remains till the end of January, the dip in temperatures over the last few days was due to Cyclone Ditwah which has now weakened to deep depression over southwest Bay of Bengal.”

Cold December

Mr. Patil added that the temperatures are likely to drop to 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in the last week of December and the first week of January.

Mr. Patil said that the minimum temperature in many districts in north-interior Karnataka like Bidar, Kalaburagi, Belagavi, Vijayapura, etc. is likely to drop below 10 degrees Celsius in the last week of December.
