Heavy rains in the Nilgiris led to landslips in many places, mostly around Kundha, Kotagiri and Coonoor taluks on Sunday (October 19, 2025) morning.

According to officials, an average of 46.66 millimeters of rain was recorded from Saturday (October 18) night to Sunday (October 19) morning with Kundha, Geddair, Coonoor, Burliar, Kotagiri, Kil Kotagiri and Pandalur receiving very heavy rainfall.

Officials said seven landslips were reported in these areas. Staff from the Highways Department acted quickly to clear the landslips and restore traffic along the routes.

A total of 21 Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force (TNDRF) personnel have also been stationed in Coonoor and Kotagiri to deal with emergencies.
