In an act of gratitude, an elderly woman met District Collector Himanshu Shukla and personally thanked him for resolving her long-pending grievance through his timely intervention during the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) meeting in Nellore Collectorate on Monday.

The petition she submitted was notably the very first grievance received during the first PGRS meeting conducted by the Collector soon after assuming charge of the district. Rama Jyothi from Kavali, had alleged that her elder son had misled her into transferring the house in which she was residing into his name and subsequently evicted her, leaving her without shelter.

Listening to her plea at the PGRS meeting, the Collector directed the concerned officials to resolve the matter without delay, making it clear that addressing citizens’ grievances would remain a top priority. Acting swiftly on his instructions, officials undertook field-level verification, coordinated among departments, and ensured a permanent legal solution. The disputed registration was cancelled and the property was restored to her, bringing an end to her distress.

Despite her advanced age and frail health, she was determined to convey her appreciation in person and, with the support of family members, made the journey to the Collectorate.

As the Collector was away in Vijayawada attending a district development review meeting with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, she met Joint Collector Mogili Venkateswarlu and DRO Vijay Kumar, offered them sweets, and showered blessings on the administration.
