Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was admitted to a private hospital in Thane on Friday (July 3, 2026) night after he complained of fever and weakness. Hospital authorities stated that his health parameters are stable.

Mr. Shinde had been experiencing fever during the legislative Assembly proceedings, but continued with his scheduled engagements. However, his condition necessitated medical intervention during a programme in Thane, following which all his remaining events were cancelled.

Doctors attributed the ailment to a combination of viral fever and physical exhaustion from sustained activity. The Deputy Chief Minister has been involved in a series of political and administrative duties, including the legislature session and party-related functions.

The hospital administration confirmed that Mr. Shinde was admitted at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday (July 3, 2026). Medical examinations are underway under the supervision of specialists.

The health development had an impact on political programmes. The formal induction of Shubhangi Patil, a leader from the Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena, into the Shinde-led party was scheduled at the Gangubai Shinde auditorium in Thane. The event was postponed and subsequently conducted at 2 a.m. on Saturday (July 4, 2026), with MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde overseeing the process.

State Health Minister Prakash Abitkar provided an update from Pandharpur. He stated that Mr. Shinde has been advised rest by doctors and that there is no cause for concern.
