The Telangana government has launched a common pass for Hyderabad Metro Rail and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) services on Friday (October 2, 2026).

Charges and validity

While the daily pass costs ₹400, the monthly pass is priced at ₹8,500. The latter will be valid for 30 calendar days. The pass will be applicable for all categories of RTC buses without Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits barring Pushpak service — which is dedicated for commute to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Hyderabad outskirts. The cards can be purchased at Metro Rail Stations. Officials said that it can be purchased online as well. People have to pay ₹100 for the pass which would be refunded when returned.

The common pass was launched by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad.

After the launch, the Transport Minister said they bought the daily passes and would take the public transport on Saturday. A few commuters were handed over the cards.

Other tools

MeeTicket App too was launched for passengers to buy tickets to travel in the RTC buses online, doing away with tickets printed on paper. People can use their mobile phones to select their boarding point, destination and type of ticket through the App and complete the payment through digital mode. A digital ticket with a dynamic QR Code is generated in the App after the payment, which has to be shown for verification in buses.

Speaking on the occasion of the launch, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju said that it has come to notice during consultations that around 30 lakh passengers travel by the buses in Hyderabad and five lakh take the Metro Rail everyday. Some of them buy tickets to take bus during first mile connectivity, to travel in the Metro Rail, and last mile bus connectivity. Stating that the common pass introduction will be considered as pilot project, he said that changes would be made.

The top official said that public transport is the most important aspect of any transport infrastructure, which helps in cutting down pollution and making a city vibrant.

Vikas Raj, Special Chief Secretary, Transport and Roads & Buildings departments said that measures are being taken to act on proposals to improve last mile connectivity and road infrastructure.
