The State government’s e-Swathu 2.0 portal, launched on December 1, 2025, was hit by technical glitches and was causing inconvenience to property owners in rural areas, admitted Rural Development and Panchayat Raj and IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge on Wednesday.
Replying to a question by BJP member Kiran Kumar Kodgi during Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Kharge said the portal was facing software-related issues across the State, affecting the processing of property-related documents. He said it would take about a month to rectify the problems and ensure smooth service delivery to rural property owners.
The Minister said the portal was launched after conducting workshops for panchayat development officers and other staff, but software glitches persisted. He said while 44,508 applications had been received through e-Swathu 2.0 in the last two months, only 7,978 had been approved.
Purpose of portal
The new portal was introduced to bring more property owners under the tax net, digitise property records, reduce fraud, and enable faster online property transactions and tax payments.
Mr. Kodgi said the portal was causing severe difficulties, particularly for people in the coastal region, and demanded restoration of the earlier system until the issues were resolved.
Sexual abuse
Replying to a separate question by BJP member Bharath Shetty on the rise in cases of sexual abuse in educational institutions and hostels, Minister for Women and Child Development, Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens Laxmi Hebbalkar said the State government had launched Akka Pade, a special initiative aimed at ensuring the safety of women and children.
She said the programme focuses on creating awareness among students and the general public, and that affected individuals can seek help through Akka Pade, which is jointly implemented by the Women and Child Development Department and the police.
Each Akka Pade team comprises five women Home Guards tasked with providing immediate assistance to women and children in distress, the Minister added.
