In the Kanayankavayal ward of the Peruvanthanam panchayat in Idukki district, candidates with the same names are causing confusion among the public. While Lissy George is contesting as a United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate, Lissy Joseph, Kerala Congress (M) worker, is the Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate.

Owing to this confusion, both fronts are now focussing on the party symbols while campaigning rather than the names of the candidates. While the UDF is busy reaching out to public to vote for the hand symbol, the LDF is making sure that the voters’ remember the two-leaf symbol.

The name could be a game changer in this ward.
