Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has stressed the need to spread the message of peace to put an end to the conflict in West Asia. “India needs to send a message to the U.S. to stop the war on Iran,” he said while speaking to journalists in Balehonnur, N.R. Pura taluk, Chikkamagaluru district on Sunday.

The conflict in that region has had an impact worldwide, including in India. “The USA should stop the war and begin the peace talks. All Indians need to send a united message of peace,” the DCM said.

Many Indians, a majority from South India, have been working in West Asia. “In the coastal regions of Kerala and Karnataka, at least one person from each family is working in that region. We need to care for their safety,” he stated.

Referring to the attacks on Iran, Mr. Shivakumar stated that more than 70 children had been killed. The incidents have left lakhs of people in shock, and flight operations across the globe have been affected, he said. “We all must desire peace, and only through that can we save people. Nobody should be harmed. The Union government should also convey the message of peace,” he added.

Mr. Shivakumar was in Balehonnur to attend a programme at Rambhapuri Mutt.
