Well-know Hyderabad-based artist Kavita Deuskar passed away on December 26 morning. “She complained of breathlessness and while being taken to a hospital breathed her last,” informed a fellow artist. Her husband predeceased her.

She was the daughter of artist Sukumar Deuskar and granddaughter of Ramkrishna Waman Deuskar. A large portrait of Salar Jung-III at the entrance of the museum was painted by her grandfather. The artist community expressed grief at her passing.

“My teacher, a senior and prolific artist, and a great guiding force. She taught us the discipline and beauty of the egg tempera technique with grace and patience. Her art and teachings will continue to live on through her students,” said artist Laxman Aelay.
