A Delhi court on Tuesday (December 16, 2025) granted the Goa police a two-day transit remand of Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, the owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Goa where 25 people were killed in a fire on December 6.
The two accused, who had fled from the country soon after the incident, were deported to India from Thailand. A team from the Goa police arrested them at the airport in Delhi and produced them before Judicial Magistrate Twinkle Chawla in the Patiala House Court, who allowed two days transit remand against the police’s request for three days.
The Goa police’s public prosecutor Surjendu Sankar Das told journalists that the accused will be taken to Goa on Wednesday. He added that the court had ordered a medical checkup for the accused at Safdarjung hospital, and allowed them to take the medication prescribed by their doctors. The accused were also allowed to have a pair of slippers, clothes, and spectacles.
Last week, the court had refused to grant transit anticipatory bail to the Luthra brothers.
The police have already arrested five managers and staff members at the night club, in connection with the fire.
