Distancing himself from slogans raised by his supporters in Tumakuru projecting him as the “next Chief Minister”, Home Minister G. Parameshwara clarified that he would not lobby for the post, as the decision rests solely with the Congress high command.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Parameshwara said he had no role in the slogans raised by his followers and maintained that leadership decisions would be taken by the party at the appropriate time.

“I am not prepared to create any more confusion, and our high command will take a decision at the appropriate time,” he stated. “I am not going to do any lobbying,” he said, adding that he was not going to Delhi.

Dr. Parameshwara, who has previously served as KPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister, remarked that while his well-wishers might express their opinions, but he had advised them against doing so.

As speculation over a possible leadership change continues — with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D.K. Shivakumar facing renewed questions over the prospect of a Dalit Chief Minister — Dr. Parameshwara has reiterated that he is capable of taking on the role if given the opportunity.
