A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) along with the J&K Police on Tuesday (Dec ember 9, 2025) launched multiple search operations in south Kashmir’s Anantnag “on the basis of the revelations made by an arrested doctor”.
Officials said a team of NIA was searching and scanning Hutmurah forest area in Anantnag. Initial reports suggested that around three locations were being searched by the security forces on the basis of inputs of arrested doctor, Dr. Adeel Rather.

On November 7, an AK-47 rifle was recovered from Dr. Rather’s locker at the Anantnag medical college, where he worked as a senior resident until October 24, 2024. Dr. Rather is among two local doctors arrested in an inter-State terror module case, believed to be behind the Red Fort blast that left 15 civilians dead on November 10 in New Delhi.

Officials were also looking into the role of Dr. Rather’s brother, Dr. Muzaffar Rather, who is believed to have shifted to Dubai earlier this year.
