Members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest at the CRDA headquarters in Rayapudi, Amaravati, demanding justice for the family of late farmer Ramarao and fulfilment of promises made to local farmers and residents.

Despite Ramarao’s tragic death, the protesters alleged that the coalition government had failed to address the hardships faced by Amaravati’s farmers. Holding banners and portraits of Ramarao, they raised slogans demanding immediate government intervention. The protesters accused the authorities of prioritising corporate interests over the welfare of farmers, claiming that prime land earmarked for locals was being allotted to large companies while residents were given inferior plots.

CPI(M) leaders, including State secretary Ch. Babu Rao and district leaders M. Ravi, Ajay Kumar, Shivashankar, and Burug Venkateswara Rao, submitted representations to CRDA Additional Commissioner Bhargava and officials in the Municipal Administration Minister’s office. They urged the government to provide ₹50 lakh assistance to Ramarao’s family, rectify irregularities in plot allocations, and ensure alternative plots for displaced farmers.

The protesters also demanded expeditious development of local infrastructure, debt relief, employment opportunities, and access to basic services. They emphasised that the government must honour its promises of free education, healthcare, and local employment. The CPI(M) leaders criticised delays in passing necessary legislation for Amaravati’s development and faulted successive governments for neglecting the capital region.

The CPI(M) vowed to continue its agitation until justice is delivered to Ramarao’s family and the government fulfils its commitments to Amaravati’s farmers and residents.
