Contract teachers demand job security

Contract Teachers’ Association and Universities Contract Teachers’ Joint Action Committee met here in a round-table on Saturday to demand job security

In addition to participants from the 12 State universities, members included scholar-activist G. Haragopal, former MLC M. Kodandaram, State Education Commission member P.L. Vishweshwar Rao, Telangana Grandhalaya Parishad chairman Riyaz, and Tribal Finance Corporation chairman Bellaiah Naik.

According to the associations, there are about 1,200 contract teachers in various universities with over two decades of service but without job security.

Mr. Vishweshwar Rao said the very issues were recorded by the SEC and submitted to the State government in a comprehensive report. Mr. Riyaz and Mr. Naik too assured that the concerns will be escalated to the Cabinet level.

Justice (Retd) B. Sudershan Reddy, noting the persistent demand of the contract teachers, shared his message over the phone.

At the event, the association members released a pamphlet stating their demands supported by various judgments.
