Former CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Friday credited Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and the INDIA bloc with successfully defeating the Constitution Amendment Bill brought in by the Centre in Lok Sabha, which, he asserted, was an attempt to “disrupt the federal structure” of the country.

“The Opposition has unitedly blocked the Constitutional Amendment Bill, which the Modi government was trying to use to tamper with the federal structure and delimitation of Parliament seats. This would have upset the federal balance of the country. This is a victory for the democratic forces of our country,” he said.
