An elderly couple died in Savaratubburu village Mandasa mandal of Srikakulam district in the early hours of Friday (October 3, 2025), when a wall collapsed owing to heavy rains.
According to the police personnel, the victims were identified as Savara Buddhayya (65) and Rupamma (60). The neighbours took them to the hospital, located in Haripuram, where they succumbed to multiple injuries.
Srikakulam Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar directed local officials to shift the people to safe areas if they were living in dilapidated structures.
