BJP councillor R. Sreelekha named as fifth accused in protest march case

R. Sreelekha, the former DGP and BJP councillor for Sasthamangalam ward in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, has been named as the fifth accused in the case pertaining to the march by BJP to Vattiyoorkavu police station, which became controversial following the derogatory slogans that were raised against the police.

BJP’s women Corporation councillors had led the march to Vattiyoorkavu police station to protest against the alleged police brutality and custodial assault on BJP workers, who had been arrested during a clash between BJP and CPI(M) workers at Nettayam earlier. The women councillors were demanding action against the police officers who the BJP said were responsible for the incident
