Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday (September 17, 2025) transferred ₹802.46 crore to the accounts of 16,04,929 registered construction workers of the Bihar Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

He transferred ₹5,000 per construction worker under the Annual Clothing Assistance Scheme through video conferencing from his official residence. CM Kumar also launched the web portal of the “Mukhyamantri Pratigya Yojana (Chief Minister Pledge Scheme).

During the programme, the Chief Minister congratulated the Labour Resources Department for organising the programme.

“We have been working since the beginning to bring the lowest rung of society into the mainstream. As the state is achieving new heights of progress in various sectors, our working brothers and sisters have made an incomparable contribution. The government is continuously working for their development,” CM Kumar said.

The Chief Minister directed the Labour Resources Department to launch a campaign to register all the remaining workers and connect them with this scheme and provide them with its benefits.

The Annual Clothing Assistance Scheme was launched in 2020 under the Labor Resources Department, Government of Bihar, to assist eligible and registered construction workers and labourers under the Bihar Building and Other Construction Workers Rules, 2016.

Under this scheme, each registered construction worker receives an annual deposit of ₹2,500 in their bank account, which has now been increased to ₹5,000.

The Chief Minister’s Pledge Scheme is an initiative of the State Government aimed at empowering the state’s youth and preparing them for employment needs.

Under this scheme, structured internship opportunities will be provided to youth in the manufacturing and service sectors, providing them with practical experience and financial support, as well as employment opportunities.

In this scheme, 5,000 internship opportunities will be provided in the financial year 2025-26, with a target of providing 20,000 opportunities each year over the next five years.

A total of 105,000 opportunities will be provided under the scheme. The Chief Minister’s Pledge Scheme is being operated through a digital platform.

The portal will connect youth and industries on a single platform, providing convenience to industries/employers and youth in Bihar.

Industries and employers and youth are registering to avail themselves of the internship opportunities through the portal. The digital platform will prove to be a transformative bridge connecting the aspirations of the state’s youth and the needs of industry, providing Bihar with new energy towards skill development and inclusive progress.

Both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were present along with Labour Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Singh and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar.
