The Araku Parliament Member and YSRCP leader Gumma Thanuja Rani on Sunday alleged that the State government was ignoring the health of children in tribal schools of Parvatipuram Manyam district, citing the 11 deaths in the last five months.

In a press release, she said that two students had died of jaundice and 28 others were admitted to the King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam. She called for the establishment of RO plants in all schools and colleges to ensure safe drinking water for students.

Dr. Thanuja Rani who is a doctor by profession, also asked the government to send medical teams to conduct check ups of students and take necessary action immediately to address health crisis. She alleged that the NDA government was least bothered about the education and health of students although the previous Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government had provided all the facilities in the educational institutions. She urged the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes to order an inquiry into the pathetic condition of tribal students in Parvatipuram-Manyam district and other tribal areas of the State.
