The Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) is organising the State-level IndiaSkills Competitions 2025-26 to promote excellence in skill development by aligning training and assessment with global occupational standards and current industry needs.
The IndiaSkills Competition, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), is implemented through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and WorldSkills India. It serves as the official national platform for identifying, nurturing, and benchmarking skilled youth who will represent India at regional, national, and international WorldSkills competitions.
APSSDC Managing Director Ganesh Kumar said that in the State-level IndiaSkills competition, a total of 48 skill trades—41 individual skills and 7 team skills—were chosen from the national list of 63, based on industry relevance, workforce demand, and future growth potential in Andhra Pradesh.
Candidate Screening Phase
Mr. Ganesh Kumar said approximately 54,000 candidates registered from across Andhra Pradesh. In line with WorldSkills India guidelines, a mandatory district-level online screening test was conducted on December 15 and 16, 2025. Based on test scores and recommendations of the State-Level Committee, 20 candidates per trade were shortlisted. In total, 1,100 candidates (820 for individual skills and 280 for team skills) qualified to compete at the State level.
State-Level Competitions
The State-level IndiaSkills competitions were held offline on December 19, 2025, at various venues across Guntur and Vijayawada. Evaluations were conducted by reputed industries, leading universities, and experienced jury members in accordance with WorldSkills standards and global best practices.
The top two candidates in each of the 48 skill trades—110 in all, including individual and team categories—were selected to represent Andhra Pradesh at the Regional-Level IndiaSkills competitions, scheduled for the second week of February 2026 in Hyderabad.
Mr. Ganesh Kumar added that the shortlisted candidates will undergo structured training and mentoring through online and offline boot camps, supported by industry experts. Following the regional round, the national-level competition will be held in June 2026, and the national qualifiers will go on to represent India at the WorldSkills Competition 2026 in Shanghai, China.
