The government has finalised fee for postgraduate courses this year in the five newly established government medical colleges — in Rajamahendravaram, Nandyal, Vizianagaram, Eluru and Machilipatnam.
According to a press note from the Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare on Thursday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has approved an annual fee of ₹30,000 for government quota, ₹9 lakh for self-financing seats and ₹29 lakh for NRI quota seats in these colleges.
It may be noted that for the academic year 2025–26, the National Medical Commission (NMC) had granted permission for 60 PG seats across four courses in these five colleges. While Rajamahendravaram and Nandyal colleges will each have 16 seats, Vizianagaram and Machilipatnam colleges will have 12 seats each. Eluru college will have four PG seats.
As per NMC rules, 50% of PG seats fall under the all India quota and the remaining 50% under the State quota. As per the 2017 rules brought in by the government, seats under the State quota are categorised as convenor quota (50%), management quota (35%) and NRI quota (15%).
In private medical colleges, the proposal for PG course fee that has been approved is ₹4,96,800 for convenor quota, ₹9,93,600 for the management quota and ₹57,50,000 for NRI quota.
MBBS admissions were completed in these five colleges in 2023–24 academic year itself, but since PG admissions would begin only after the first batch of MBBS students completed their degree, the YSRCP government did not finalise PG course fee.
For the MBBS course, the YSRCP government had fixed an annual fee of ₹15,000 for the government quota, ₹12 lakh for self-financing seats and ₹20 lakh for NRI quota.
