Ajin and Avani leave hospital, embrace new life

Ajin Elias , a native of Angamaly, and 13-year-old Avani Krishna, a native of Kollam, who underwent heart transplants at Lisie Hospital in Kochi, were discharged on Tuesday (September 30, 2025).

The heart of Kottarakkara native Isaac George, 33, beats in Ajin, and the heart of Angamaly native Biljith, 18, beats in Avani.

Both the surgeries were carried out at the hospital by a team led by cardiac surgeon Dr. Jose Chacko Periyappuram.

Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (K-SOTTO) executive director Dr. Noble Gracious said that the organ donations and successful surgeries have created good awareness in the community, and that over a thousand people have registered to donate organs in the last two weeks.
