Officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) disconnected illegal sewer connections of four apartment complexes in the Kakatiya Hills area under Division 15 on Tuesday. Four other buildings in the locality were also issued notices for similar violations.

Officials said the complexes had not obtained permission to connect their private plumbing to the public sewer main. A recent field inspection found that sewage from these unauthorised connections was frequently overflowing onto the main road.

They cautioned that illegal connections, whether sewer lines or drinking water, would attract criminal cases. Establishments such as hospitals, hotels, bakeries, malls, and multi-storey buildings must compulsorily install silt chambers.

Residents can alert the Board officials if they notice illegal water or sewerage connections in their colonies for immediate action. The Board’s vigilance officials can be contacted on 99899-98100 and 99899-87135.
