A ‘Republic Day of the Poor’ will be organised on January 26 at Fakeer Colony in Kogilu Layout, Yelahanka — where the civic authorities razed more than 160 houses — by Dudiyuva Janara Vedike, in collaboration with other organisations.

According to the organisers, the event is being held to reaffirm the core constitutional values of social justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. The programme aims to foreground the lived realities of marginalised communities while commemorating the adoption of the Constitution. The organisers said this demonstration is aimed at underlining the relevance of constitutional principles in addressing the concerns of the urban poor and marginalised sections of society.
