BRS leaders visit Basti Dawakhanas, flay govt. for their neglect

HYDERABAD

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders led by working president K.T. Rama Rao and senior leader T. Harish Rao who undertook visits to Basti Dawakhanas in all four zones of Greater Hyderabad on Tuesday alleged that they were being neglected badly without proper supply of medicines and provision of other basic needs.

They interacted with doctors, nurses, other staff and patients to enquire about the condition of the clinics, which were extending free healthcare services to people in their localities along with diagnostic services. The Basti Dawakhanas which were providing quality healthcare to people were presenting a pathetic picture now with supply of only one-third of medicine varieties and some of them were with expired date of use, the BRS leaders said during the visits.

Apart from Mr. Rama Rao and Mr. Harish Rao, MP V. Ravichandra, MLAs P. Kaushik Reddy, V. Prashanth Reddy, M. Gopal, P. Rajeshwar Reddy, K. Venkatesh, V. Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Dr. K. Sanjay, MLCs T. Ravinder Rao, D. Sravan, V. Yadava Reddy, L. Ramana, T. Madhu, Naveen Kumar Reddy, party leaders S. Niranjan Reddy, E. Dayakar Rao, Dr. T. Rajaiah, Ch. Kranti Kiran, Dr. M. Anand, M. Krishank and several GHMC Corporators and others visited Basti Dawakhanas across the city.

At Ibrahimnagar Basti Dawakhana in Khairatabad constituency, Mr. Rama Rao said the BRS government had brought into use 450 Basti Dawakhanas, including 350 in Hyderabad along with diagnostic services, but they were not being supplied even necessary medicines now.

During a visit to Old Lingampally Basti Dawakhana in Seri Lingampally constituency Mr. Harish Rao said they were providing 110 types of medicines and 134 diagnostic tests to patients in the past, but now only a part of them were being provided. At Rasoolpura (Secunderabad) Basti Dawakhana, official spokesperson of the party M. Krishank said expired medicines were being given to a patient during his visit.
