The State government on Monday issued multiple notifications effecting changes to the names of 14 ward and boundaries of six, spread across five city corporations.

This follows a controversy over a few ward names and many pointing to anomalies in boundaries even in the final notification, sources said.

For instance, MLA for Yelahanka S.R. Vishwanath had raised objection to a ward in his constituency being named Aakash. It has now been renamed Aero City Ward. Yelahanka Old Town has been renamed Raja Kempegowda ward and the ward earlier named after Bengaluru’s founder has now been renamed Chowdeshwari Ward.

While six wards in East Corporation, four in North, three in West, and one in South have been renamed, boundaries of four wards in South Corporation and two in Central Corporation have been changed.

The State government on September 30 issued a draft notification with 368 wards across five corporations and issued a final notification with 369 wards on November 19. However, the government making further changes, have raised questions.
