In a late-night rescue operation lasting over five hours, police and local rescue teams successfully saved the life of a truck driver who was trapped inside a mangled cabin after a severe collision between two heavy vehicles near Medak village in Sedam taluk of Kalaburagi district on Friday (November 7, 2025) night.

The accident occurred around 9:45 p.m. when a goods carrier transporting biscuits rammed into a long-chassis lorry loaded with steel rods. The impact of the collision was so intense that the front portion of the goods carrier crumpled into the lorry’s cabin, leaving its driver, Dharmendra Singh (43), severely injured and trapped in the cabin.

According to Police Inspector Daulat N. Kuri of Mudhol Police Station, the collision was so powerful that the cabin’s metal frame got twisted, making it extremely difficult to pull the driver out. On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and immediately began rescue operations.

“With the help of a JCB crane and a dedicated team, our officers worked tirelessly through the night. It took us nearly five hours to cut open the cabin and safely extricate the driver,” Inspector Kuri said.

The rescue operation, which began shortly after the accident, continued until around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday (November 8). The police coordinated with local volunteers, a crane operator, and emergency medical staff to ensure the driver received immediate aid after his successful rescue.

After being pulled out of the wreckage, Dharmendra Singh was shifted to a private hospital in Kalaburagi city for further treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.

Inspector Kuri praised the teamwork and perseverance of his officers, noting that their coordinated efforts and the use of heavy machinery ensured the driver’s survival.
