Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Nadendla Manohar on Monday said that ₹400 crore has been paid to farmers within five hours after procuring 1.35 lakh metric tonnes of paddy in the East Godavari district. He further added that at least 4 lakh metric tonnes will be procured in East Godavari district alone.

Mr. Manohar and Tourism and Culture Minister Kandula Durgesh on Monday inspected the ongoing paddy procurement along the river Godavari.

During an interaction with farmers, Mr. Manohar said: “Farmers are guaranteed payment within hours after procurement of paddy. The procurement target of 51 lakh metric tonnes in the Kharif 2025-26 is a record in Andhra Pradesh.” He assured a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy with 17% moisture content and timely supply of gunny bags.

In view of the rains expected within a week across the State, farmers have been advised to intensify paddy harvesting. Mr. Manohar said: “Farmers are being allowed to dry the harvested paddy in government places and layouts to speed up the procurement drive.”

The Minister along with other officials will continue to inspect paddy fields and procurement centres in the Godavari region till November 26.
